By Default Exchange 2010 Won’t have Send Connectors Created after installing the Setup
Send Connector is required to Send Emails over the internet
If send connectors are not created , Emails to the Internet won’t work for Exchange 2010
Step 1.
Click on Organization Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Send Connectors ,
Right Click on the Screen – New Send Connector
Setup 2.
you can type a friendly name
Setup 4.
Click on add type “*” in address space , This is by Default
Setup 5.
By Default Type – Use Domain Name System (DNS)
If your using a smart host “Route Mail through the following smart hosts”
Add the ip . and Configure your smart host for the same
Setup 6.
If you have multiple Exchange 2010 you can configure the source server as per your Requirement
Setup 7.

We have a mail gateway (Barracuda) and a specific Exchange 2010 HT (call it “HTMAIN”) which receives mail from the gateway, has the mail scanned using GFI MailEssentials and then dispurses incoming mail to other internal HT’s. We also want to use that same HT as the sole outbound HT on Internet bound mail. We 3 other HT’s in the environment. I’ve got 2 questions:
1) In regards to the Source Server entry on the Send Connector, do we simply put “HTMAIN” on the list and none of the other HT’s, or do I need to add all HT’s in the environment?
2) For redundancy, what happens if “HTMAIN” goes down? Do I need to add a second “Send Connector” with a different cost?
One Send Connector – With all HUB as Source Servers – enter the smart host.

Hi, I really like your posts. It nicely helps on my Exchange Migration Project.
I have one question about send connectors. In my organization we have 2 connectors.
The first connector sends all messages of a group such toto for example and reject the messages from all others users. The second connector sends messages from everyone except toto’s group.
I can not configure this setting on Exchange 2010.
Do you have any idea how to do on Exchange 2010 ?

We have two connectors to filter messages.
what we are trying to achieve. Try to achieve mail routing/forwarding/copying using transport rules . and use only one send connector.

In Exchange 2003 in send connector’s properties we have “delivery options”.
But in Exchange 2010 we don’t have “delivery options” in connector’s properties.
I’am trying to configure this setting on Exchange 2010. I look every where but i don’t see it. Have you any idea ?

In fact it is to separate the mails from users of the mass mailing is our core business.
In summary :
1 connector sends the mails of Domain Users .
2 connector sends messages generated by our agents.
On Exchange 2010 I can not configure this setting .

do they use the same domain . if they are using different domain . you can use the Address space. in the Send connector
Yes all e-mails are sent with one domain, our domain.
Just for example :
Connector 1’s IP : 192.168.2.5 = domain users mails
Connector 2’s IP : 172.17.2.7 = mass mailing
All e-mails are sent with domain.com

what all the email address used for mass mailing . it is like no-reply@domain.com . or its random ? or newsletter to 5 ?
Yes we use the same domain to send all e-mails.
Just for example of our send connectors
Connector one’s IP : 192.168.1.6 = domain users e-mails only
Connector two’s IP : 172.16.200.6 = all other e-mails.

We have broadcast groups to send our mass mailing.
All e-mails address are not random but definied.
Hi, I am trying to deploy Symantec Messaging Gateway in my exchange 2010 environment and want to know about below two things.
1- I am replacing MS forefornt for exchange which is installed on edge server and behind edge server I have hub transport servers.Now my question is what will be the best position to place SMG? should I remove edge servers and replace them with SMG or SMG should be placed before edge servers for inbound emails.
2-How would I configure send connectors in exchange 2010 hubtransport/edge server for SMG.Will there be any specific settings for SMG or it will be configured in a same way as you described in this post.
if you have a Smart Host on DMZ . You can think of removing edge. Note : Edge gives you an additional layer of security.
Yes send and receive . both can be going via smart host. Check send connector settings.
